Higher hardness for more demanding surfaces

A corridor, commercial space or wall carrying equipment needs its actual use planned. High-hardness boards are an option to assess alongside the framing and any reinforcement that the project requires.

What type I means

Type I identifies improved surface hardness. PLADUR I is specified for interiors exposed to frequent traffic and possible impacts. This characteristic helps select the surface, but should not be confused with unlimited capacity for attached items. The particular model and complete system remain part of the definition, along with the conditions in which they will be used.

Describe how the wall will be used

When considering this family, we ask about frequent circulation, trolleys, movable furniture or equipment that might contact the wall. Whether the area is domestic or a space used for an activity also matters. Describing actual use helps compare suitable options and identify locations needing attention. A general request for a stronger wall leaves those practical decisions open.

Attached loads need their own planning

A television, suspended cupboard, radiator or support rail requires its fixing to be assessed. We need the item's weight, geometry, use and position, as well as details of the proposed wall. The solution may include reinforcement and anchors defined for that configuration. We do not apply one generic load limit to every board described as having high hardness.

When several requirements coincide

Some products combine hardness with other characteristics, such as reduced water absorption or properties used in acoustic and fire protection systems. OMNIA is an example carrying several designations. The combination must be checked in the product data and the chosen system; it cannot be inferred solely from a commercial name or appearance. Describe all the project's objectives before the selection is made.

Information for a useful proposal

Mark attached items and areas of frequent traffic on a simple drawing. If equipment has already been selected, include its data sheet or installation instructions. These decisions should be resolved before closing the wall so that reinforcement and services can be coordinated. We will assess feasibility and describe the composition and finish scope in the proposal, including any details still awaiting confirmation.

  • Equipment, positions and available documents.
  • Additional moisture, fire or acoustic requirements.
