Distinguish exterior systems from interior linings
A standard interior board does not become a facade material simply through added paint or moisture resistance. Manufacturers offer specific solutions, including certain cement-board or reinforced-board systems intended for exterior use. Selection is based on a documented application and the complete assembly, rather than a visual similarity between products.
Understand the exposure and intended use
A sheltered area, exterior ceiling and facade enclosure do not share the same conditions. Exposure to water, wind and the surrounding environment is reviewed alongside the height and use of the property. The enquiry identifies the element to be built or altered so that we can assess whether the solution and necessary checks are appropriate.
Check the supporting base and fixings
Feasibility depends on the element to which the system will be fixed and the forces it must receive. We do not confirm a supporting base from a photograph or transfer an interior fixing to a facade application. We assess the technical information and structural review needed before defining framing, anchors, supports and installation conditions.
Resolve water protection, joints and junctions
Windows, corners, bases, top edges and service penetrations can affect system continuity. A board's resistance to water does not establish the weather-tightness of the completed enclosure. The layers, joints, seals and other details specified for the intended configuration are reviewed and coordinated with the facade solution and elements that need to be retained.
Agree the technical review and scope limits
Depending on the work, project documentation and participation by the professionals responsible for its definition may be needed. Manufacturer products and systems have specific application scopes; their documentation does not establish a NIVAREL certification. We confirm feasibility and the scope that can be proposed before committing to a configuration or installation.
Prepare an enquiry that can be assessed
Provide general photographs taken from a safe position, the location of the element and available documentation. Explain whether there is damage, previous cladding or nearby services, without attempting to inspect supports yourself. We assess the enquiry and identify outstanding checks; only then are materials, tasks, junctions and coordination with the rest of the project defined.
- Exterior element and local exposure.
- Available supporting base, height and access.
- Documentation and existing solution.
- Cladding, junctions and nearby services.
