Describe the outcome you need
Write down what should change after the work: a separate room, access to services, less noise or a surface prepared for a particular finish. Separate essential requirements from preferences. Specifying only the material can leave important aspects of everyday use unresolved.
Understand the substrate and available space
Photographs help with an initial assessment, but they do not always reveal the substrate construction. Fixing positions, heights and junctions need review. Allow space for layers, services and the finish as well: the visible surface does not explain the full depth of the assembly.
Organise the performance requirements
Ask which moisture, noise, fire and use conditions the assembly must address. Several requirements may apply together. The choice should correspond to a documented configuration, including junctions and openings; a list of board features does not describe the behaviour of the finished work.
Plan doors, loads and services
Locate suspended furniture, televisions, doors and equipment before closing the assembly. Consider maintenance of ducts and access panels. A later change may require opening a finished surface, altering reinforcement or reviewing the performance originally specified for the project.
Compare quotations with the same scope
Compare more than the number of square metres. Check the system, layers, junctions, openings, joint treatment, final finish and work by other trades. Ask for exclusions and outstanding decisions. Two prices can only be assessed properly when they address equivalent requirements and completion standards.
Keep a record of decisions
Retain the accepted quotation, system identification and available drawings. Agree the consequences of changes before carrying them out. NIVAREL assesses the enquiry and confirms a feasible scope; projects with specialist requirements may need additional documentation and technical coordination.
Sources and technical documentation
Manufacturer references consulted on 14 October 2026. Selection and performance are confirmed against the current documentation for the system proposed for each project.
