Not every board is plasterboard
A gypsum board with a special facing, a cement board and a gypsum-fibre element have different compositions and applications. Although they may be grouped in a plasterboard enquiry, the correct family needs to be identified. Standard wall board does not become a façade or flooring solution simply by changing its finish. The system must suit its intended use.
High humidity and sheltered exterior areas
PLADUR WAB is intended for specific high-humidity systems and protected exterior ceilings. This does not mean any board may be exposed to the weather. We ask about rain, wind, condensation and the site's geometry to distinguish a sheltered location from a façade or fully exterior ceiling and review the appropriate system. Exposure needs to be described before selection.
Cement boards for specific solutions
AQUAPANEL Outdoor is a cement board used within exterior systems defined by Knauf. Its use requires compatible framing, fixings, joints and finishes to be reviewed. On façades, the relationship with the support and the project also needs coordination. We offer to assess the request and confirm its scope before proposing execution, including which decisions need technical definition.
Gypsum fibre and dry screeds
Brio elements belong to gypsum-fibre dry screed systems with their own conditions of use. They are not ordinary partition boards laid on a floor. Assessing an intervention requires information about the support, levelling, loads, moisture and intended floor finish. These decisions are reviewed against the documentation for the selected composition, together with the interfaces to surrounding construction.
Boards combining several characteristics
Boards with several declared characteristics, such as OMNIA, are also available, alongside wall-lining products with incorporated insulation. A combination does not remove the need to check the project's objective. Where thermal improvement is intended, selection should be coordinated with the existing construction and any necessary moisture assessment, rather than based only on available thickness or the product's name.
What we need to assess the work
Provide drawings if available, photographs and an explanation of exposure and intended use. Identify the designer responsible for requirements where the project needs one. We will review feasibility, unresolved details and interfaces with other work. The proposal will distinguish the board family, system and installation conditions, avoiding the assumption that a product is suitable for every application or interchangeable with another family.
Sources and technical documentation
Manufacturer references consulted on 14 October 2026. Selection and performance are confirmed against the current documentation for the system proposed for each project.
